Approximately 17 U.S. veterans die by suicide every day—a rate that is about 1.5 times that of nonveterans.  Researchers have found that equine assisted activities and other equine ­based interventions can reduce suicidal thoughts and symptoms of PTSD among at-risk veterans.  But a limitation to these activities is that they require multiple sessions and cannot be easily implemented.
